ABSTRACT

Vitamin C60 BioResearch Corporation has developed the world’s first cosmetic ingredient containing 2-aza-8- oxohypoxanthine (AOH), under the trade name Repista. This article describes the cellular activation effects of the AOH active ingredient on normal human epidermal keratinocytes. DNA microarray analysis using NHEKs suggested the AOH active ingredient promotes epidermal turnover, differentiation, and maturation, as well as the metabolism of old skin cells. In addition, all tests in the safety evaluation conducted on the AOH active ingredient were negative, indicating that it is a safe cosmetic ingredient.

2-aza-8-oxohypoxanthine (AOH; Figure 1), is a plant growth factor discovered by Honorary Distinguished Professor of Shizuoka University Dr. Kawagishi.1 Until this discovery, there were only seven plant growth hormones recognized worldwide, making AOH the eighth plant growth hormone to be discovered. We expect the structure of AOH will be recognized as a major discovery and become textbook knowledge
