Croda International has appointed Aris Vrettos to the newly created director of sustainability strategy and transformation position.
The role will be Vrettos’ first within a commercial organisation, having previously been director of the Centre for Business Transformation at the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
Croda said Vrettos, who has more than 15 years’ experience of sustainability science, policy, finance, and business leadership, will challenge the chemicals firm to “stretch its already industry-leading sustainability ambitions and commitments”.
The new position will also see the sustainability expert support Croda’s business sectors in further enhancing their sustainability strategies by working in partnership with their customers and suppliers.
In addition, Vrettos will oversee development of the sustainability competencies and training programmes required across Croda to enable every employee to contribute to achieving the company’s Commitment to be Climate, Land and People Positive by 2030.
"I am genuinely delighted to be joining Croda, a science-led company with authentic leadership and ambition on sustainability,” he said.
“I look forward to working with my new colleagues, our customers and other stakeholders in the exciting journey ahead to further enhance Croda's impact and influence and provide the sustainable solutions needed for the next decade and beyond."
Phil Ruxton, Croda International’s chief sustainability officer, added: “Aris has a deep passion for delivering positive impacts to planet and society through commercial organisations.
“This extensive experience will enable us to turbocharge our approach to meeting our 2030 commitment and look beyond this to what sustainability leadership must mean in future decades”.
