CHT breaks ground on $20m US polymer plant expansion

Speciality chemicals company CHT has broken ground of a $20m expansion at its US headquarters in Cassopolis, Michigan.

The expansion will house CHT USA’s new organo-modified silicone polymer plant.

The new facility will add 45,000 square feet to the Cass County site, bringing the total square footage to 120,000 and is expected to add about 30 new jobs to the community.

“This investment will expand our global footprint, balance our supply base and allow us to establish production redundancy,” said Ken Kemerer, CHT USA managing director.

“It provides significant growth opportunities for our innovative line of sustainable products,” he added.

Founded in 1989, CHT USA, formerly ICM Products Inc., specialises in silicone chemical manufacturing.

CHT USA is a part of the CHT Group, headquartered in Tübingen, Germany.
