Vantage acquires Jeen

Vantage Specialty Chemicals, an Illinois-based supplier of naturally derived ingredients and formulations for the personal care market and others, has acquired Jeen International, including its BotanicalsPlus subsidiary. Terms were not disclosed. Jeen founders Adam and Jeanne Perle, will join Vantage and retain a stake in the business.

Jeen is active in the same fields as Vantage, offering specialised active ingredients, botanical extracts and complexes for skin care, hair care, fragrances and other applications. It has about 3,000 customers and works through 20 distributors. Vantage said that this is highly complementary to its own range of some 2,500 actives, natural oils and bio-based chassis ingredients, which are sold in about 60 countries.

“Our team has long admired Jeen’s solutions-based approach to rapidly develop tailor-made blends meeting its customers’ requirements,” said Vantage CEO Steve Doktycz. “In addition, the acquisition fits squarely within our strategy to expand Vantage's capabilities in personal care and food ingredients, which now represents over two-thirds of our business.”
