Sensegen plans multiple launches

Sensegen, a recently rebranded subsidiary of Blue California, is preparing to enter the personal care, fragrance and flavours ingredients markets using the tag line ‘The Science of Good Sense’. It claims to be “the first 100% biotechnology-based solution provider serving these markets”.

Based on the work of its creative centre, the company expects a number of product launches in 2022. These will include “a line of clean, novel, proprietary offerings, as well as natural and sustainable qualities of market favourites” in personal care, plus new captives for fragrances of all kinds.

Sensegen works with Conagen’s fermentation and bioconversion processes to produce optically active, nature-identical molecules. Among its first products is Plantarome M, which is said to be the first biotech source of musk, avoiding both the unethical harvesting of natural animal sources and the safety concerns around some synthetics.
