Hamburg-based distributor Nordmann has revealed that it has been distributing several products based on recycled coffee grounds from Danish manufacturer Kaffe Bueno in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia.
These include Kaffibre, a gluten-free, low-fat and caffeine-free fibre that is mainly used in the food industry but also finds cosmetic applications under the INCI name Coffea Arabica Seed Powder. Nordmann said that it can replace micro pearls made of plastic, and is a sustainable and cost-efficient alternative to other natural cleansing and exfoliant peelings.
Possible uses in facial care are diverse, such as in peelings, masks with a peeling effect, cleansing gels, lip care and soaps. In body care, typical applications include exfoliant peelings, anti-cellulite creams, moisturising wash-off creams and solid shower gels. The particle size is under 150 µm. Kaffibre is approved as a raw material by Ecocert Greenlife in accordance with the COSMOS standard.
