US synthetic biotechnology company Amyris has launched Rose, a clean colour cosmetics and skincare brand that is the second of three it will make this summer, together with the Modern Essentials collection. These have been created in partnership with model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and built on her digital community, which, the firm said, “brings together beauty professionals and conscious beauty enthusiasts”.
The collection includes collection includes Softlight Luminous Hydrating Concealer, Lip Sculpt Enriched Amplifying Colour, Brow Renew Enriched Shaping Gel, Blush Divine Radiant Lip & Cheek Colour, Radiant Reveal Brightening Serum and Skin Resolution Clarifying Toner. They are all available globally from 27 August.
Rose's products are described as “multi-faceted: effortless and effective, clean and clinically proven, sensual and sustainable”. Its non-comedogenic formulae are developed with bioengineered, sustainably sourced ingredients, including squalane, Amyris’s plant-derived moisturiser, and hemisqualane, its naturally derived alternative to fluid silicones and cyclomethicone.
Separately, Amyris has closed the acquisition of clean consumer brand Olika. Formed in 2015, Olika is known among many other things for its hydrating hand sanitiser collections under the Birdie and Minnie brands. Terms were not disclosed.
