Bioflavonoids in mouthwash help reduce COVID-19 in saliva

According to a recent double-blind study, the addition of Curarden UK’s Citrox bioflavonoids to Curarprox’s Perio Plus+ mouthwash significantly reduced SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in saliva

According to a recent double-blind study carried out with COVID-19-positive patients at four French hospitals, the addition of Curarden UK’s Citrox bioflavonoids to Curarprox’s Perio Plus+ mouthwash significantly reduced SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in saliva.

As a result, the risk of contamination fell by 71% with a single rinse. This approach will now be investigated further to determine optimal mouthwash frequency and the long-term impact of mouthwash use for reducing viral load in the oral cavity.

Bioflavonoids are natural compounds that are known to have inflammatory, antibacterial and other beneficial effects. They are used in food preparation and increasingly in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors too. Citrox itself is an active formulation containing bioflavonoids and organic acids derived from bitter oranges.
