Ingredients focus: sun care

Protection from the sun’s rays is now recognised as one of the key components of a comprehensive anti-ageing strategy. Traditionally, UV (ultraviolet) rays were thought to be the sole contributing factor to skin ageing, it is now understood that infrared (IR) rays also play a part in premature ageing of skin.

As a result, ingredients manufacturers are now releasing products that show efficacy in reducing the impact of IR rays.

People are now also becoming aware of the importance of re-application and how the benefits of sun protection can be lost through water and wear. It is therefore very important that products are now produced that are better able to withstand the rigours of use as well as reminding consumers of the importance of reapplying the protection.

Following are some examples from ingredients manufacturers that can help produce modern sun care products that offer global protection.
