The 2012 SCS Formulate took place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, UK, on 13 and 14 November and once again continued its steady increase in size it has shown since 2004 with a total of 913 visitors.
This year’s increase in numbers was eased by the show’s move into a larger hall ensuring that visitors had a comfortable environment in which to move and view the exhibition stands and network with industry colleagues. As well as more space the show’s stands also boasted a new colour scheme giving the event a fresh look. The Knowledge seminars were an area proving to be particularly popular. Ninetyfive people registered as seminar delegates in 2011 while 202 registered in 2012. This is a clear demonstration of the value of the content delivered by the SCS and the fact they are free for SCS members is also a key membership benefit.

BASF was promoting its Luvigel Fit thickener for styling gels. This innovative liquid thickener is based on hydrophobic alkali swellable emulsion (HASE) technology that gives clear and smooth hair gels. High setting performance can be achieved much easier due to synergy leveraged with many styling polymers. The combination of standard styling polymer Luviskol K90 with high performance setting polymer Luviset Clear matches the performance of the strongest clear styling gels on the market.
