Broad Spectrum SPF 23, PFA (PPD) ~12 Sunscreen Lotion JZ5-62

Hallstar
This sunscreen formulation is designed to deliver true broad-spectrum sun protection. Singlet-state-quencher, SolaStay® S1; and elegant sunscreen solvent and emollient, HallBrite® BHB; photostabilize a combination of the sunscreen active ingredients Ethylhexyl Salicylate (INN Octisalate) and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (INN Avobenzone). Sunspheres™ magnify sunscreen active ingredients performance. Using closely related formula JZ5-62, in vivo testing (five subjects) suggests SPF ~23 and in vitro testing suggests PFA (PPD) ~12 performance with critical wavelength ˜ 379 nm.

Preparation:

To a secondary vessel, add phase A and start mixing. Add phase B and heat to 85°C. Add phase C ingredients in order. When A–C is homogeneous, add phase D and mix until well dispersed. Add phase E to the main vessel. Dissolve phase F with continued mixing. Add phase G and stir until fully incorporated. Start heating to 80°C and add premix of phase H. When both are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add the oil phase (A–D) to the water phase (E–H) with prop mixing. Start homogenizing and cooling. When batch reaches 55°C, start sweep mixing and continue cooling. Add phase I and continue mixing until fully incorporated. Add phase J and continue mixing until fully incorporated. When completely smooth, perform final quality assurance checks.
